Varian Analytical Instruments Melbourne - now owned by Agilent Technologies, required a robust, attractive housing for its successful High Performance Liquid Chromatolory testing equipment.
Their leading design partner Cobalt Niche (a Melbourne based design company) turned to Talbot Technologies as their technology partner to produce a functional, cost efficient, stylish and technically different product to integrate a number of “stand alone” components within one compact enclosure.
The result heralds a number of firsts for this product sector especially in the use of innovative twin-skin thermoformed moulding technology using Noryl (PPO) as the polymer base. The twin sheet forming process has allowed the design team from Cobalt Niche to design parts that were hollow in construction, with no need for multiple assemblies, and to add as many feature as possible into one moulding structure to reduce other part counts. The cabinate is extremely robust and has great chemical resisitance and is completely recyclable at end of life.
